AHW studio, sydney CBD
jewellery shop fitout
AHW Studio came to us with a brief and design. It was to reflect the raw beauty and form of their industrial and bespoke jewellery in their shop fit-out. Located in the Strand Arcade – an iconic and lauded retail destination – we knew the design had to be ultra-cool and edgy, with moody tones. Ink Interior Architects came up with the impeccable design. And we executed the jewellery shop fitout to perfection.
With features and finishes that positively sing off the shadowy French painted feature wall, the shop fit-out really lets the jewellery shine. Features like the artfully incorporated raw and brass materials that echo the materials used by AHW Studio, give the space a wonderfully cohesive feel. These touches are evident in the aged brass used for the point-of-sale counter, and for the tubular display in the shopfront window.
Almost everything was custom made on this project. And that seems right in a space where the products themselves are entirely bespoke. We created and installed custom-made joinery, custom-made plinths to be used as jewellery displays, and even a custom-made TV frame.
Borg Projects installed dashes of contrasting timber to give the space some light and shade and warmth. Juxtaposed against the American Oak veneer on the overhead cabinets is the black Paperock joinery on the bottom cabinets. And the solid timber flooring neatly ties everything together.
We’re completely in love with the sparkling glass drawer faces, LED strip lighting, illuminated signage and funky, feature pendant light. They act as little furnishing jewels that give the studio just the right amount of shimmer.
The result of all these beautiful, tactile design strokes is a dark and moody space that’s just a little bit sexy.

We’re a family jewellery business and we were undertaking our biggest, scariest project to date! We were opening a shop in the Strand Arcade, Sydney CBD, and we needed a shopfitter that wasn’t just efficient, but someone who cared!
I sent out a tender and within minutes I received a call from Nicholas at Borg Projects. What stood Nicholas out to me was his enthusiasm and eagerness. He was hungry to work and that really appealed to me. Nevertheless I still searched out other shopfitters to compare. Borg Projects went above and beyond again, meeting me at the shop location, bringing drawings, ideas, and suggestions all before I signed him as the official shopfitter.
In terms of quality and build, Borg Projects amazed us all with their attention to detail and overall finish. We built the shop out of Paperock, with black finishings, strip lighting, and copper features. Borg was very helpful the entire way, transparent, and quick to reply. We had many limitations imposed by the Strand due to its heritage nature, like construction only to be done after-hours, and Borg handled all of this without a problem.
Overall we felt in safe hands throughout the entire process, which was very important to us. You can tell Borg was passionate about his work and it wasn’t just a job to him – he wanted to prove a point and make a difference. It certainly showed. Now our shop is in the prestigious IDEA awards for both Retail AND Colour! We’re renovating our second shop in the Rocks, and of course we are entrusting Borg Projects to handle it for us. We just began drawings now and we’re super excited to see it come to life in the next few months. Opening 2022 😉
Can’t recommend them enough! Thanks Nic and Sarah and the whole team 🙂
